Lean SAP archiving with focus on cache server concept for globally distributed CAD documents.

Neu-Isenburg, June 06, 2017. After a lengthy transition phase, the last kgs CAD content servers have now gone live at TRUMPF GmbH + Co KG. The globally active machine tool builder, headquartered in Ditzingen, Germany, is using kgs archive server and client software to replace its old OpenText system. The reason for the changeover: significantly lower licensing costs with improved functionality at the same time. The kgs servers are operated under Red Hat Linux.

Software components for viewing, scanning, archiving and CAD data management were replaced as part of the project. The changeover took place without affecting the daily work of the design engineers at TRUMPF. As a follow-up, all CAD documents are currently being migrated from the old to the new archive and the previous servers will then be switched off. In total, the company uses the kgs servers at 15 locations worldwide.
