SAP archiving under S/4HANA with kgs

  • Motivation for changing archiving systems
  • kgs solution for Döhler
  • Archiving with S/4HANA

Initial Situation

Instead of using several archiving systems in parallel, Döhler was looking for a uniform and streamlined solution that subordinates itself to SAP as a leading system. In particular, the new archive should not interfere with the company-wide introduction of S/4HANA or have to be specially adapted for this purpose.

Solution

With the content server from kgs, complexity moves from the archive to NetApp storage, which ensures the immutability of the data. kgs does not require a database, but only a simple file system without complexity, which makes the fundamental difference to conventional archiving solutions.

Result

For administrators, the content server, with its reduced complexity, means time savings of around 50 percent in their daily work.

“With the kgs archive in the background, we have gone through the entire SAP transformation in the company: from SAP ECC to MaxDB to SAP Suite on HANA and most recently on S/4HANA. We didn't have to adjust anything in the archive and were able to concentrate fully on implementing S/4HANA. ”
