Kärcher: Archiving in the cloud and CMIS readiness from a single source

Initial Situation
In the past, Kärcher used an extensive ECM system provided by a hosting provider. However, this was cost-intensive, maintenance-intensive and contained many unused functions. When the provider terminated its data center operations in Germany, Kärcher felt compelled to migrate its ECM and — ideally — replace it with a more modern, cloud-native archiving solution.
Solution
While researching, Kärcher came across KGS Software GmbH, whose archiving platform is able to archive documents/data directly in SAP and, on the other hand, ensures a scalable cloud connection. From working with the SAP partner, the company expected the best possible support for the complex migration to the cloud and preparation for the SAP S/4HANA implementation.
Result
The implementation of the new archive solution reduced both the complexity of the Kärcher system landscape, maintenance costs and operating costs. In addition, the archiving platform is CMIS ready and compatible with future SAP standards. Since the new archive concept is based on AWS and is scalable, nothing stands in the way of further data growth.
