TRUMPF has previously used a conventional ECM system to archive SAP-related data and documents. In terms of its range of functions, complexity and maintenance costs, the system was too oversized in the long run to fulfill its actual task of providing documents from the SAP GUI.
The kgs solution focuses on data archiving and storage of documents in connection with SAP. It is the closest thing to the machine manufacturer's ERP-centered approach. kgs was also able to set up a complex and performance-critical infrastructure with archive and cache servers in conjunction with SAP PLM across 15 locations worldwide.
With its distributed archive architecture consisting of archive and cache servers, TRUMPF has immense performance advantages over a central solution. SAP knows every single server, monitors which is failing and can switch to alternative servers.
