The tia® Document Router is a powerful middleware for importing documents into SAP. It enables companies to automatically process documents from a wide variety of sources — such as scanners, e-mail, fax, file systems or legacy systems —, link them to SAP business objects and archive them in compliance with the law. As a universal input manager, it ensures consistent and efficient document processes in the SAP environment.

The router is extremely flexible: it processes documents from almost all input channels, including scan solutions, e-mail mailboxes, fax servers, output management systems and older archive structures (legacy systems). This makes it ideal for hybrid IT landscapes.

tia® Document Router supports all common document formats, including PDF, PDF/A, TIFF, JPEG, PNG and many more. In addition, documents can be automatically converted as required and stored in the desired target format (e.g. PDF/A for long-term archiving).

Integration is carried out via the SAP ArchiveLink® interface, which allows documents to be linked to SAP business objects in a fully automated manner. For example, incoming invoices, delivery notes or contracts can be automatically assigned to the appropriate process and digitally archived.

Yes, the tia® Document Router supports automatic barcode recognition. This enables document separation, classification and targeted transfer to defined SAP workflows — particularly useful for mass scans or large batches of documents.

Yes, the solution is multi-client and scalable — therefore also suitable for group-wide structures or international locations. Different configurations can be managed and monitored centrally.

Yes, the tia® Document Router is platform-independent and runs on all Java-compatible operating systems and hardware environments. The use as a pure server application enables easy integration without local installation on user workstations.

By automating document processing, integration with SAP and flexible adaptability to existing workflows, the tia® Document Router makes a significant contribution to increasing efficiency, transparency and process reliability. At the same time, manual efforts are reduced, sources of error are minimized and compliance requirements are met.

The tia® Document Router is ideal for combining with other kgs products. In conjunction with tia® Scan and the tia® Scan Server - it creates a comprehensive solution from document entry to SAP integration. The tia® Content Server can be connected for audit-proof archiving. In addition, tia® migration and tia® ZADOC enable the integration of existing archiving systems or increased the performance of document access. This makes the tia® Document Router a central hub in a modular, scalable kgs system landscape.

Why archiving is the critical success factor for S/4HANA migration

The clock is ticking: for ERP managers and DMS experts, the pressure to migrate to SAP S/4HANA is no longer a theoretical option, but a daily operational reality. Yet, when planning these transformation projects, one crucial factor is often criminally neglected: the volume of historical data and documents.

Anyone who, true to the mottoAll-in, attempts to lift database structures that have evolved over decades one-to-one into the new S/4HANA world puts the entire migration project at risk. Archiving is not an IT project to be deferred to quieter times—it is the foundation and the critical success factor for a seamless S/4HANA migration.

SAP ILM Meets Cloud Storage: Why the 'File-Level Retention Lock' Blocks IT Infrastructure – and How to Do It Better

Organizations implementing SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) to ensure GDPR compliance and data minimization often encounter a technological barrier when transitioning to modern cloud and object storage (S3/Blob): Rigid retention periods (Retention Locks) prevent agile system consolidation. The question for SAP Basis teams and archive experts is: How can the legally compliant destruction of data be operationalized without sacrificing the flexibility of the storage infrastructure? A deep dive into the world of CMIS, WebDAV, and application-controlled locks.

S/4HANA Migration: Why Data Detox is the Critical Path to Meeting the 2027 Deadline

S/4HANA Migration 2026: Why "Data Detox" is Your Critical Success Factor Against the 2027 Deadline Crash

Only just over 1.5 years remain until the final SAP ECC support ends. Anyone who now drags unstructured data baggage, such as historical FI/CO documents or delivery notes, unchecked into the new S/4HANA world will maneuver directly into a cost and time trap. Expensive in-memory storage (HANA RAM) and fully booked consultant capacities are unforgiving of bloated system architectures.

The answer for ERP managers and IT architects is: Pragmatic Data Detox before Go-Live. Learn how you can reduce your database footprint by up to 70% with the lean, software-driven archiving from kgs tia® via native ArchiveLink and CMIS interfaces. This way, you secure a high-performance S/4 system, sustainably minimize your TCO, and achieve a true, AI-ready Clean Core – exactly on schedule.
