tia® as a Service Benefits

tia® as a Service: More room for your IT. Less effort for your archive.

Hand off archive operations

kgs takes care of operations management, monitoring, security updates, and releases. Your team can focus on your SAP business processes instead of servers, maintenance, and archive availability.

Plan costs with confidence

Your subscription is based on archive size, not the number of users. This keeps billing transparent and ties your archiving costs to your data volume.

Grow with your archive

As your archive volume increases, the service scales with it. No additional archive hardware of your own is required. Measured volume is available at any time.

Archive in Germany

The service runs on Microsoft Azure in Germany. Encrypted data transmission and storage, private networks, and a dedicated VPN connection protect access to your archive.

Connect to SAP with certification

The SAP-certified ArchiveLink® connection links your SAP system to the archive. The equally certified CMIS interface is available as an optional add-on.

Launch with support

The kgs Consulting team supports setup, SAP integration, and go-live. A joint acceptance test with representative document types prepares the transition to ongoing operations.

Support included

The Standard service level is included in every subscription. Scope of services and service levels are defined in the contract, which ensures clear responsibilities during ongoing operations.

Keep control of your data

Under the SaaS operating model, your data remains your data. A structured exit includes a complete data export within 30 days and documented deletion after your prior approval.

Security and Operations

Your archive in the cloud. Security in operation.

SAP archiving requires more than storage space. tia® as a Service combines protected access, separate customer environments, and structured data backup with features for the long-term retention of your documents and data.

ISO 27001-certified information security management system · Data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR

Pricing Model

Your data volume counts. Not your user count.

With tia® as a Service, you book a subscription that matches your archive size. Pricing is based on archive volume, regardless of how many users access the archive. The Standard service level is already included.

Archives up to 1 TB fall under size XS, and archives up to 3 TB fall under size S. As your archive grows, the fee is adjusted according to the agreed volume rules. You can view your measured archive volume at any time, based on the same data used for billing.

Subscription based on archive size · Independent of user count · Standard service level included · Archive volume available at any time

tia® as a Service provides kgs's SAP archiving technology as a fully managed service on Microsoft Azure in Germany. You archive documents, business documents, and data, while kgs handles operations management, monitoring, security updates, and releases.

With a self-operated tia® Content Server, you are responsible for the operating environment yourself or arrange for its operation through a service provider. With the SaaS offering, you obtain archiving as a service operated by kgs. Billing is based on a subscription according to archive size.

The offering is particularly well suited to small and mid-sized companies that do not want to run their own archive operations. It can also be a good fit for companies planning an S/4HANA transformation or an archive migration.

The SAP-certified ArchiveLink® connection is included in the offering. The equally SAP-certified CMIS interface can be added as an optional extra. We will work out together which interface is best suited to your environment.

The service runs on Microsoft Azure in Germany. Connections to your SAP landscape run over VPN and private networks, with no public access. Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Daily backups are stored separately and geo-redundantly. Recovery is possible per tenant. Redundancy and disaster recovery are also designed to address regional outages.

You book a subscription based on archive size. Pricing depends on archive volume, not on the number of users. For getting started, sizes up to 1 TB (XS) and up to 3 TB (S) are available. If your archive grows by more than 10 percent of its starting volume, the annual fee is adjusted pro rata in the following month. Your measured archive volume is available at any time.

kgs handles monitoring, operations management, and security updates. Releases follow a monthly cycle. The Standard service level is included in every subscription. The binding services and service levels are described in the contractual documentation.

After the kickoff, kgs sets up your tenant, including security configuration and the VPN connection. This is followed by the SAP connection and a joint acceptance test with representative document types. The go-live then takes place, with handover to ongoing operations. We will discuss the possible transfer of existing archive holdings as part of your project.

The offering includes immutability, configurable retention and deletion periods, legal holds or deletion blocks, and verifiable deletion. Which settings are required depends on your processes and retention obligations.

Enterprise Content Management (ECM)

Anyone involved in electronic administration and document digitization will frequently encounter the term Enterprise Content Management (ECM). Enterprise Content Management encompasses all technologies for capturing, managing, storing, preserving, and delivering documents and information, with the goal of holistically organizing business processes. The term is often used synonymously with Document Management System (DMS). However, for SAP-centric companies, an additional question arises: Is a comprehensive ECM system truly necessary for audit-proof archiving, or is a specialized, SAP-native archiving solution the more suitable alternative?

Organizational Debt: The invisible backlog of old rules, processes, and tools – and how to systematically reduce it before it eats away at productivity

The problem: Companies invest in new strategies, tools, and transformation programs while outdated structures, processes, and decision-making rules remain in place. This organizational debt creates delays, duplication of effort, and resistance to change. The core insight: Organizational debt is not the same as a single inefficient process. It is the accumulated stock of past compromises, omissions, and decisions that limits an organization's current execution power. What leaders should do: They should treat organizational debt like a strategic portfolio: make it visible, prioritize it by risk and interest, pay it down systematically, and prevent new debt from accumulating.

Why archiving is the critical success factor for S/4HANA migration

The clock is ticking: for ERP managers and DMS experts, the pressure to migrate to SAP S/4HANA is no longer a theoretical option, but a daily operational reality. Yet, when planning these transformation projects, one crucial factor is often criminally neglected: the volume of historical data and documents.

Anyone who, true to the mottoAll-in, attempts to lift database structures that have evolved over decades one-to-one into the new S/4HANA world puts the entire migration project at risk. Archiving is not an IT project to be deferred to quieter times—it is the foundation and the critical success factor for a seamless S/4HANA migration.

SAP ILM Meets Cloud Storage: Why the 'File-Level Retention Lock' Blocks IT Infrastructure – and How to Do It Better

Organizations implementing SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) to ensure GDPR compliance and data minimization often encounter a technological barrier when transitioning to modern cloud and object storage (S3/Blob): Rigid retention periods (Retention Locks) prevent agile system consolidation. The question for SAP Basis teams and archive experts is: How can the legally compliant destruction of data be operationalized without sacrificing the flexibility of the storage infrastructure? A deep dive into the world of CMIS, WebDAV, and application-controlled locks.

S/4HANA Migration: Why Data Detox is the Critical Path to Meeting the 2027 Deadline

S/4HANA Migration 2026: Why "Data Detox" is Your Critical Success Factor Against the 2027 Deadline Crash

Only just over 1.5 years remain until the final SAP ECC support ends. Anyone who now drags unstructured data baggage, such as historical FI/CO documents or delivery notes, unchecked into the new S/4HANA world will maneuver directly into a cost and time trap. Expensive in-memory storage (HANA RAM) and fully booked consultant capacities are unforgiving of bloated system architectures.

The answer for ERP managers and IT architects is: Pragmatic Data Detox before Go-Live. Learn how you can reduce your database footprint by up to 70% with the lean, software-driven archiving from kgs tia® via native ArchiveLink and CMIS interfaces. This way, you secure a high-performance S/4 system, sustainably minimize your TCO, and achieve a true, AI-ready Clean Core – exactly on schedule.
