tia® Content Server benefits

S/4HANA, RISE, or GROW - future ready thanks to tia®

SAP-certified

All ArchiveLink® and CMIS as well as ILM interfaces are certified by SAP. The CMIS interface from kgs was the first in the world to be officially certified by SAP in 2022.

Flexible and up to date

The solution is designed both for on-premises and for operation in cloud and hybrid scenarios, offering maximum flexibility.

Sleek and easy to use

Unlike traditional ECM/DM systems, the tia® Content Server deliberately omits functions that are already provided by ERP.

Cloud native

Cloud-native run on all major hyperscalers (e.g. MS Azure, GCP, AWS). Can also be used easily in hybrid scenarios or on-premises.

Pop-Up-Archiv

Any scaling (“pop-up archive”) as needed, e.g., three content servers during high utilization, with the option to subsequently shut down individual servers > High availability easily achievable.

Container delivery

Delivery of software in accordance with security best practices and already set up in the individual customer environment > The container already contains everything that is needed in the environment.

Automated testing

Software is tested using hundreds of automated tests. Automated tests are also possible in customer-specific solutions thanks to container construction.

Simplified

Managed identity and integration into the company's login structure is possible (OpenID Connect) > Encryption + Virus Scan at REST.

The right Interface

tia® Content Server — for ArchiveLink and CMIS interfaces

The tia® Content Server supports both the established SAP ArchiveLink® interface and the modern, cloud-native CMIS interface. This provides companies with a flexible and future-proof archiving solution that integrates seamlessly into existing IT landscapes and at the same time paves the way to the cloud.

SAP ArchiveLink, SAP-zertifizierte Integration mit SAP S/4HANA.

ArchiveLink®

ArchiveLink® — proven integration with SAP

ArchiveLink® is the proven SAP standard for legally compliant document archiving and is fully supported by the tia® Content Server.

This allows documents to be archived and retrieved directly from SAP, which enables reliable and easy integration into existing SAP systems.
However, ArchiveLink® reaches its limits when it comes to cloud scenarios and extended metadata requirements. In these cases, the modern, cloud-enabled CMIS standard takes over. The tia® Content Server supports both interfaces and thus enables a smooth transition from on-premises to cloud environments. Hybrid scenarios using both interfaces are also possible.

CMIS

CMIS — the path to the cloud

With the support of the CMIS interface, the tia® Content Server offers a modern, vendor-independent and cloud-native connection option, which has also gained in importance as part of the SAP S/4HANA transformation.

Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is a standard protocol that allows uniform access to content from different systems. This makes it possible to design workflows seamlessly, exchange content across systems and reduce integration costs, as proprietary interfaces are no longer required.
In combination with the tia® Content Server, CMIS becomes the central building block for flexible, hybrid and cloud-based archiving strategies that support both on-premises and cloud scenarios.

The tia® Content Server is a powerful, legally and audit-proof archiving system that enables the archiving of documents, data and print lists from SAP and other applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint.

A content server is used wherever large amounts of digital data must be securely managed and archived over the long term — for example, for legally compliant storage of invoices, contracts or other SAP documents and data.

While an ECM system (Enterprise Content Management) offers a variety of functions related to document management, workflows and collaboration, tia focuses® Content server for archiving. Functions that are already provided by ERP are completely omitted - this saves costs and resources.

Integration is carried out via various interfaces such as SAP ArchiveLink® or CMIS. These make it possible to automatically archive content from SAP systems in the content server and retrieve it directly from SAP as required.

Yes, the tia® Content Server supports both on-premises, cloud and hybrid scenarios. This enables flexible integration into existing IT landscapes — even in combination with hyperscalers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.

CMIS stands for “Content Management Interoperability Services” — a vendor-independent standard for connecting and integrating various content management systems. A content server with CMIS support can thus communicate flexibly with different systems.

All interfaces of the tia® content server from kgs are certified by SAP. This certification guarantees technical compatibility and compliance with SAP guidelines during archiving.

Why investments in ECM are doubling — and why that's not progress

In this blog article, we take a look at why ECM investments are increasing, which technical patterns lie behind them and why growth at this point does not bring any structural improvement.

MCP in focus: How do archiving and AI grow together in 2026?

Many AI initiatives in the enterprise fail not because of model quality, but because of a lack of context: AI “knows” too little about documents, metadata, authorizations and process realities. At the same time, companies often already have this information — distributed across archives, SAP, SharePoint and specialized applications.

Why we use Test-Driven Development when developing our middleware

If software is to be reliable — particularly in sensitive areas such as archiving or middleware systems — quality must not be a random product. Test-Driven Development (TDD) offers a structured approach for just that: First the test, then the code. The latest project has shown how much TDD reduces the error rate, improves the architecture and saves development costs in the long term. Using a real example, the article shows how TDD works in the everyday life of a development team, what the biggest stumbling blocks are and why the approach pays off, especially in complex system landscapes.
