Literally translated, we are at the “single point of truth” at the Single Point of Truth (SPoT). In IT, SPoT is the place where all of a company's data is brought together and stored. The SPoT functions as a central data platform — all other systems in the company therefore rely on this data platform in principle.
The term is often used synonymously with the single source of truth (“the only source of truth”) and is used primarily in data warehousing. It describes a data platform in a company on which all business data is stored centrally. Ideally, there is also a bidirectional connection (= data transfer in both directions from point to point) and data adjustments from other company systems. This not only prevents the creation of work silos and the use of outdated data sets, but above all standardizes the level of access and knowledge for all employees of the company. The aim of SPoT is to create a generally valid, non-redundant database and to ensure the consistency of a company's master data.
With tia®, companies can create a SPoT for their archived documents and - in line with the credo - even across different applications. The documents are loaded with various meta information, making them accessible independently of any application. The intelligent document of the future knows where it comes from, what its retention periods are, how often it is searched for and who can view it.
