Neu-Isenburg, June 19, 2024 — In order to be future-proof, the international chemical company Kemira separated from its long-standing archiving solution and now relies on the kgs platform for archiving in the cloud.
The switch from Kemira to SAP S/4HANA made it necessary to adapt the existing archiving concept. The requirements for future archiving of SAP data were high, as the availability of this data and documents was and is business-critical for Kemira. It was therefore all the more important to rely on a solution that not only can prove SAP certification, but also to find a migration specialist who has broad expertise.
The technical requirements for the new concept were clear from the start: around 10 million documents had to be migrated and 3 TB of data had to be archived. Invoices and logistics documents had absolute priority. “It should also be ensured that all running systems are not affected by data migration, that the availability of business-critical data is guaranteed at all times and that it does not take too long to open documents from the new archive,” says Johanna Pakkanen, senior IT manager at Kemira. During research, they came across the SAP-certified archiving solution from kgs, which has exactly the range of services that the Group needs. The fact that the consultants at KGS have many years of migration and SAP expertise was also an important argument.
After implementing a PoC, the migration to tia® was completed successfully and with minimal downtime. While only a few IT employees were needed at Kemira for this, today all colleagues work with the system without anything changing for them when working with SAP. The reason: tia® archives the data in the background and even when a Kemira employee uploads documents from the archive, he hardly notices any difference compared to uploading classic SAP files because the solution's performance is so convincing.
Johanna Pakkanen: “Archiving is not a 'nice to have, 'but a 'must have.' With tia®, we now have a lean and powerful archive that meets all our requirements. ”
